Alan Werner, a Museum of Flight docent, will give a presentation on the Blackbird, the world’s fastest airplane and the museum’s most popular artifact. The presentation goes over the development of the spy plane by Lockheed “Skunk Works” for the CIA, the unique design challenges, its extraordinary capabilities, and how the Blackbird still holds the world’s speed and altitude record for jet propelled aircraft.
