Vision, one of the five senses, affords us the privilege of seeing the world. But, what is our world like when we have no vision, or lose our vision in later life? Three prominent local speakers will inform us about their experiences of vision loss, and how they remain socially connected, despite that loss. Presenters include:
- Pat Cranston, Professor Emeritus, University of Washington, School of Communications for 40 years. Among her many outstanding achievements, Ms. Cranston developed the KUOW Radio Newsroom, where she served as News Director.
- Ruby Englund, Professor Emeritus, Seattle Pacific University, Nursing School, for nearly 40 years. Ms. Englund’s curriculum emphasized the entire age continuum. As such, her nursing students would begin their work in long-term settings, such as Caroline Kline Galland, Seattle.
- Patt Copeland, Founder, Vision Loss Connections, a non-profit organization with a commitment to providing accessible social activities, such as sports, arts and cultural programming to Puget Sound’s Blind and Low Vision Community. Ms. Copeland was awarded the Washington State Jefferson Award for Community Service.
