AgeFriendlyHousingForum012323Following up on a forum held in November (“Age-Friendly Housing Forum: Where will Seattle’s Older Adults Live?“—see video recording links, below), AARP Washington, Age Friendly Seattle, Northwest Universal Design Council, King County Adult Services Division Older Adults and Healthy Aging team, and City of Renton’s Age Friendly Initiative invite you to an interactive and proactive discussion about community approaches that build age-friendly housing options and support people to age in place wherever they live in King County.

Thought leaders will host facilitated table discussions that will potentially lead to an action group. If you are passionate about a particular concept that you believe can support older people to live where they want to live, you are invited to bring your ideas and become a table host. If you are excited or curious about aging-in-place and housing stability for older adults, bring your energy, add your voice, and participate in next steps.

Some potential topics for consideration include:

  • Ways to support older people to age in their homes and communities
  • Housing with services and supports, and public housing innovations
  • Neighbor-to-neighbor projects, co-housing, manufactured home communities, and mutual aid groups (villages)
  • Programs that recognize the intersectionality of behavioral health, personal care, affordability, aging-in-place, culture, and community

Action groups will meet on their own in the weeks and months that follow the forum, bringing ideas to fruition. There will be opportunities to provide updates and check-ins and to receive support in taking next steps over the next several months following the meeting.

The event sponsors look forward to hearing your voice, witnessing your passion, and learning from your particular experience.
