Share your thoughts July 13-Aug. 17 on Area Plan

Conversations about aging are happening, and we want you at the table.

Aging and Disability Services (ADS) is one of 13 Area Agencies on Aging—or AAAs—throughout Washington state. One of its most important responsibilities is creating a four-year Area Plan, the roadmap to further our vision of a community where people thrive at every stage of life. It describes the function of ADS, presents relevant demographic trends, and outlines the major goals and objectives to be achieved over the next four years.

Now is the time to provide your input!

The draft 2027–2030 Area Plan for Seattle and King County — the result of more than a year of discovery, discussion, and feedback — is ready for public review. Review the draft Area Plan and watch a recording of the July 28 public presentation. Whether you’re an older adult, person with a disability, service provider, caregiver, or someone who cares, your input helps ADS understand how to make our community a better place to grow up and grow old.

Here’s how you can share your thoughts:

Comment on the draft plan — A five-week public comment period begins July 13 and ends Aug. 17, 2026. It takes about five minutes to complete the comment form. Alternatively, you can submit comments via email to Allison.Boll@seattle.gov by Aug. 17 or mail them to Aging and Disability Services, ATTN Allison Boll, PO Box 34215, Seattle, WA, 98124-4215.

Attend a public hearing — ADS and the Planning and Allocations Committee of the ADS Advisory Council invites all to comment on the draft Area Plan at one of the following public hearings:

• TUESDAY, JULY 28 at 11 AM at New Holly Gathering Hall, 7054 32nd Ave S, Seattle. A virtual or telephone option is also available. Watch a recording of this hearing and view the presentation slides.

• WEDNESDAY, AUG. 5 at 11 AM at Triton Towers, 707 S Grady Way, Renton. A virtual or telephone option is also available. Get details.

• THURSDAY, AUG. 6 at 5 PM. Virtual or telephone only. Get details.

The Area Plan will be submitted to the State Unit on Aging, part of the Washington State DSHS Home and Community Living Administration, on Oct. 1, 2026. Following state approval, the final plan will be posted online here.
